Reflexology
Reflexology is a natural and holistic therapy that is primarily undertaken on the feet, but can also be used on the hands. The body’s systems and organs are mapped out on the feet by using relaxing massage and stimulation on certain points, or reflexes, on the feet, this gentle therapy encourages the body to work naturally to restore its own healthy balance or homeostasis (internal equilibrium).
The first pictorial evidence of Reflexology was found in the Tomb of the Physician Ankmahor in Saqqara, Egypt around 2,500 BC. Since that time, it has grown and become more popular as people have understood and experienced the benefits from receiving Reflexology.

What happens during a Reflexology treatment?
Treatments usually last between 45-60 minutes, but please allow an extra 20 minutes for your first treatment, as a brief medical history will be taken, as well as details of your lifestyle and wellbeing to enable me to tailor make the treatment to suit you and plan for future treatments. Please note that all information will remain strictly private and confidential.
You will then be asked to remove your shoes and socks (no other clothing needs to be removed) and make yourself comfortable on the couch. A natural wipe will then be used on your feet, giving them a lovely refreshing feeling.
Relaxing massage will be used first on both your feet (or hands) to warm them up and ease you gently into the treatment.
Gentle pressure is then applied to your feet using my thumbs, fingers and palms. If any imbalances are detected these points are worked on to release and ease any congestion. You may experience slight discomfort during the treatment, indicating blockages or imbalances, but ultimately you will find the treatment to be relaxing and soothing, leaving you feeling invigorated.
The treatment and findings will then be discussed with you, giving you the opportunity to ask me any questions you may have. Aftercare advice will be given after the treatment.
